Marriage has been regarded as sacred institution involving two persons from different backgrounds.
It has also been said to have its ups and downs, this though has never deterred many toady from seeking to be joined in matrimony whereas in other quarters others are either “dis-joining” or being “dis-joined” from the same union they once craved.
The causes of broken homes today have been traced to marriages that have hit the rocks due to factors many of which could have been averted by mere sacrifice, commitment and maturity. It is therefore necessary for newly weds to know take steps in order to stay married or end up a statistic.
With a staggering 86% in divorce cases in the US alone, it will be nothing but a tragedy for the marriage institution to be neglected while celebrating single – parenting (don’t get me wrong, its ok within its permissible premises, not when it is adopted as a way of life).
It is evident in the level of violence that something has been missing in the fabric of society, from the proliferation of different gangs to the ever increasing rise in violations, all of which are pointers to the fact that the government cannot correct the malady of an ailing people, rather the scourge can only be corrected from the unit that forms the core of the nation itself – the family (marriages)
For there to be a transformation in our nation there needs to be a clear understanding by persons wishing to be married of the responsibilities demanded of them in this institution. While there may be other ways of saving the family setup, understanding responsibility and commitment are clear indicators of the future of any marriage.
Unless these areas are given due attention by the authorizing bodies, our nation will have no option but to rely on a populace of hurting, abused and disgruntled personae, all products of dysfunctional backgrounds.
